Whole Foods Market® Kailua Opens its Doors with Lineup of Grand Opening Events | Business
Since the grand opening of Whole Foods Market Kailua on April 18, 2012, the store is working to stock shoppers’ calendars with a full lineup of in-store events and activities. Throughout April and May, Whole Foods Market invites fans of food, fun and Fabio to partake in Whole Foods Market Kailua’s lineup of events. On April 25, the store will hold its first Community Support Day to benefit Paepae o He‘eia and on April 29, Fabio will be hosting a handsome and healthy demonstration in-store followed by an autograph-signing and picture-taking session. On May 7, shoppers are invited to raise their glasses in celebration of their favorite wines imported from Spain as they tour the store pairing wines with a variety of cheeses, cooking demonstrations and more.

Five Percent Day – Paepae o He‘eia: Wednesday, April 25, 2012, Store Hours
Whole Foods Market Kailua is hosting its first Community Support Day where five percent of the day’s sales will be donated to benefit Paepae o He‘eia, a local organization dedicated to restoring and preserving the ancient Hawaiian fishpond in He‘eia. The donation from Whole Foods Market Kailua’s Community Support Day will be used to kick off its Adopt-a-Kuapā Campaign – a fundraising campaign challenging local businesses to “adopt” a section of the ancient wall to help in its restoration. Paepae o He‘eia representatives will also be available throughout the day to meet the community and share information on the fishpond.
Fabio Demonstration for Healthy Planet Nutrition: Sunday, April 29, 2012, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Best known for his appearance on the cover of countless romance novels, model Fabio is also the founder of Healthy Planet Nutrition, a line of high-quality nutritional supplements. From 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Fabio will be available for autographs at the Kailua store, and customers who purchase one of his products will have the opportunity to have their picture taken with him.
Recycle Your Change – B.E.A.C.H.: Tuesday, May 1, 2012, Store Hours
From May 1 to June 30, 2012, Whole Foods Market Kailua will host its first Recycle Your Change fundraiser to benefit Beach Environmental Awareness Campaign Hawaiʻi, also known as B.E.A.C.H. Customers will be invited to “recycle” their change at the checkout counter and donate to B.E.A.C.H., to help support their mission to bring awareness and solutions to the problem of marine debris on Hawaiʻi’s beaches. B.E.A.C.H. representatives will also be at Whole Foods Market Kailua on May 1 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. to meet and greet customers as well as share information about the organization.
Whole Foods Market will also be sponsoring two educational sessions, “Plastic: Impacts on your health, marine life, and the environment,” presented by B.E.A.C.H. The sessions will take place on Tuesday, May 29th and Thursday June 28th from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Harold K.L.Castle Foundation Community Meeting room at 131 Hekili Street, Suite 100, in Kailua; they are free and open to the public.

Whole Foods Market Kailua will welcome Kona Red ambassadors and paddling champions, Jamie Mitchell and Candice Appleby, for an in-store meet-and-greet and autograph signing.

Wines from Spain: Monday, May 7, 2012, 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Sample wines from Spain and pair them with exquisite cheeses while partaking in cooking demos and tasting stations that represent a variety of grapes and growing regions.
Bike to Work Day: Friday, May 18, 2012, 6 a.m. – 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Whole Foods Market Kailua and the Honolulu Bicycling League will be celebrating Bike to Work Day on May 18 to promote cycling to work as a healthy, fun, and environmentally friendly way to travel to work every day. An assortment of delicious and fueling snacks will be offered to all two-wheeled commuters – free of charge. Additionally, cyclists will also be able to enter to win a reusable shopping bag full of Health Starts Here grocery items and goodies.
