Country Girls Softball holding fundraiser for mainland tournament

The Country Girls Softball Waimanalo team is holding a fundraiser on Feb. 20 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Waimanalo Intermediate and Elementary School cafeteria.

The fundraiser will feature a performance by local comedian Augie T. and a special intermission Tahitian performance.

The Country Girls Softball team (14-year-old division) will compete in the JO Classic Las Vegas Tournament on June 11 and 12. Proceeds from the event will go to funding the team's trip.

Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance by Feb. 15.

3 high school basketball teams hosting tournament to build better relationships

Three Windward high school basketball programs are participating in a three vs. three tournament on Saturday, Jan. 29.

The Castle Knights, Kailua Surfriders and the Kalaheo Mustangs will host "Basketball: Building Bridges Together for a Stronger Community" at the Kalaheo High School gym from 9 a.m. to noon.

The purpose of the event is to build friendships, gain respect for competitors on and off the court and to promote good relations in the Windward community.

Throughout the morning, the young men will compete in an integrated three vs. three tournament as well as individual competitions.
