Endangered waterfowl to regain home after Marines pick out reeds

Endangered waterfowl to regain home after Marines pick out reeds

Anyone who's passed by the wetland area that borders Kailua Road across from Windward Boats knows there's an invasive reed problem. That's why this Friday, April 29, approximately 130 Marines from Marine Corps Base Hawaii, in conjunction with Enchanted Lakes Residents Association, will devote the day to weeding the reeds.

Removal of the invasive reeds will help create an open water habitat for endangered waterfowl that live in the area. Look for the volunteers starting at 7:30 a.m.
